I don't see it as a bad thing.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MURD3RM0NK3Y Trust me... it's bad. It's very bad. It's really, really bad.
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul How come ?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MURD3RM0NK3Y Because "someone" is determining your own self-worth.
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul I totally misunderstood this question. I can see how that can be a problem. I think everyone should be able to determine their own self worth on their own.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MURD3RM0NK3Y Society doesn't work that way though.
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul I know my own self worth.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MURD3RM0NK3Y But, society has valued you (and me) on its own scale.
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul That's their own problem. That doesn't effect my life.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MURD3RM0NK3Y It definitely affects your life. There is no question that it does... and every day.
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul An example would be ?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MURD3RM0NK3Y Job/Career choice.
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul I'm not putting 2 and 2 together.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul Job/career choice ? But then what else ? Based off of what type of job I have that determines how much I am worth ?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MURD3RM0NK3Y Society doesn't give you options of what you might want to do, what you might want to try, how you might want to spend your time. You (we) are forced into a category of jobs by some type of social scale that determines who gets to do what.

Do you really want to do what you do for a living? Is that strictly because of your own doing?
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul Of course they do mark. You get to pick what you want to do. Is it going to be free ? No. I do my job because it's convenient for me. If I wanted to try something different I could by studying and/or learning what I need to know for whatever career/job field I want to do.
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul It's not just going to be handed to you. Each person has their own interests so it's up to that person to decide. Education cost money so not everyone can have their dream job if they can't afford to pay for education.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MURD3RM0NK3Y You've got everything settled so it's easy for you. I have to figure out how to open doors that seem like they are sealed shut. I need to make decisions that are life-threatening. The world is closing in as if to say... "you're worthless. Next..."
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul That's not true mark. I don't have everything settled I just work with what I have. I don't like my job. I just do it because it's all I have. You have to start somewhere. Yes; chances are you're going to have to work a lousy job for quite some time before you get where you want to be. That's just how it is.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MURD3RM0NK3Y Well, that's my point isn't it? All these authority figures who are quick to determine what my self-worth should be and put me in my place when I try to redefine my place.
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul So now quickly decide, learn, and become good at whatever it is you want to do. See how that just doesn't work ? You need experience, training, knowledge, for whatever it is you want to do. They're not just going to give you a dream career because you think that's what you're good at you actually have to show that you can do it. Goes back to what I said. You have to start somewhere, dude.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MURD3RM0NK3Y That's not giving someone a chance. That's basically deserting someone in the desert without food, water, or GPS and sitting back to see if he can survive and watching his misery for entertainment. Well... I'm not going to be anyone's entertainment. And, I'm not going to be doing all the work around here out of some gratitude for having my own bed and then listening to a bunch of disappointed adults tell me all the things I'm doing wrong. This is not the way it's supposed to be... I'm calling BS.
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul That's life. You have a long, tough road ahead of you. Even tougher for you with that mindset.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MURD3RM0NK3Y You don't understand. 😥
