Having been on the other side of this conversation (and this being [u]totally[/u] taken out of context), I can only say that I have seen [i]many[/i] women who claim, because someone told them "no" when they wanted to go somewhere or buy something, that they are being abused - that perhaps he was simply trying to give her a lesson in realism and suggesting that she stop claiming abuse when there is none.

That being said, I think they should immediately break up for both their sakes.

If you’re controlling the funds and she can never buy what she needs or wants that’s a form of mental abuse and manipulation. Which is why I would never be able to not have my own income or freedom. The only time I told a woman she couldn’t do something with me was due to other commitments, like work. And though I always covered my half of the bills, I never had a girlfriend who made less money than me. I guess you heard what you wanted to.
