Were you apart of the 80’s roller skating craze?

Why’d you stop? And was it fun?
rckt148 · 61-69, M
I've been skating all my life ,or should I say since I was a small boy ,
my first pair hooked to your shoes and had steal wheels
you needed a skate key to get them to tightened properly
Many dates and good memories at a skating ring
I was even good on a skate board
But I developed a bone disease that caused part of my spine to have to be removed on my 30th birthday
I also walk on stilts ,
after my surgery I even stopped walking on stilts for a while ,aware if I ever fell ,that would be the end of my walking
I have went skating again with my kids as teenagers
We have a Christian skate night thats free here ,
so we went often ,but work and other interests kind of made it a thing of the past
We toured as a Christian music group until my girls got into relationships with steady boyfriends ,we even stopped doing that too
So no particular reason we quit ,,
we don't bowl anymore either ,now they have their own families that are coming of age
everyone is just so busy now days
When we do anything its to get together and sing
Thats what we do best as a family ,thats what we enjoy
but nothing wrong with skating ,,my Grandson and Son now own my skate boards

@rckt148 I can't picture you skating ha ha😉

@Carazaa the only lump I ever got on my head bigger then trick skating ,was learning to work nunchucks ,
For chucks I got wise and got a helmet and pads ,
skates and a board ,it was just me and hard concrete or hard wood floors
If it impressed my wife ,I was on it
I was also a dico duck LOL '
Loved the BeeGees
When she and I hit the floor it was like in the movies
everyone parted like the sea and gave us the floor
I was tooth pick skinny back then too ,,
Back then get a few beers in me ,nothing I couldn't do
well except serve God ,,I was chief of sinners for sure
alcohol was involved in a lot of my bravery

I could never roller skate but was pretty good at ice skating.
Classy · 22-25, FVIP
Whaaat? But they’re so similar @HerKing
HerKing · 61-69, M
@Classy Not similar enough for me. Ice skates (Hockey skates) only have about three inches in contact on ice at any time on each blade, far more manoeuvrable. Roller skates have at least two wheels in contact on a floor that has friction.

Yeah, we used to go every weekend, it was fun as kids. Cheap entertainment.

My parents owned a roller skating rink. I liked skating but liked being a DJ more.
