In three days, it’ll have been 2 years since she passed away. Not a day goes by that I don’t. @stound

My grandfather died from brain cancer. The only silver lining I could muster from that whole experience is that it was mercifully quick, and he didn’t suffer long. I know that’s how I’d prefer it if I had it. @stound

@SW-User yeah. it was weird for the guy I knew. I'd been trying to keep up with him, calling every week... was burning out, took a vacation.. missed for about 4 weeks and he went from 'ok, going in for another scan' to 'can't really communicate anymore' in that time frame and had tapped out in another 4 or so. pretty quick. we're dangling on tiny, frail threads in a room full of thrown knives.

@stound I still have nightmares frequently and the experience crippled me throughout all my bones. It is not easy. But I cannot change the past nor can I change the majority so that I can feel some relief. I was dealt a terrible hand in this poker game and the rules do not allow for any discarding and drawing of cards. All I can do is play with what I have and hope to break even, folding is losing more than I intended to gamble.

@Anonymartyr sounds like you're soldiering on well.

@stound Being stubborn can be an asset, rarely. But like I said, the same qualities that allowed me to survive also prevents me from healthier friendships and relationships. I am unable to relate to things like family the way others do and that puts most people off. Most entertainments do not apply to me either.
