Do you think that bad things happen for a reason, or do they just happen?

Cause and effect; there is always a reason.

I think life for Humans is the same as it is for all animals.

You spend your early years trying to thrive. Then trying to grow. Then learning life's lessons and along the way stuff happens that's designed to maim or kill you !

And if it doesn't do one or the other, you're going to live to see it come down some other way.

Everything happens because of something, but not everything happens to serve a positive purpose or is part of some grand design.
if you mean some grand design - no

and I don't believe in traffic accidents for the most part - they are the result of stupid and selfish behavior

a lot of bad things are foreseeable consequences of stupid acts (I've commited a ton of them)

Just happens

Things just happen, we interpret them as good or bad based on how we feel about them. Something that I might see as bad, someone else might see as a positive thing because it provides an opportunity to learn.

just happen, sadly - i don't think there's such a thing as cosmic justice.
I’m a firm believer in karma. What you put out in the world is what you get in return
They definitely happen for a reason, 'cause I do them.

They just happen.
They may result from direct or indirect causes, but I don’t believe they’re part of some grand plan. Life is just pretty random like that.
