Moving to Oregon: What are your favourite places?

I’m thinking to move to Oregon, but I can’t figure out where to live. I need to be close to hospitals, and do enjoy the amenities a city brings, but I don’t want to live bunched up in a suburb. I love the forest and natural beauty.

Any suggestions?

I'm thinking about moving to Oregon too..
I'm looking at cannon beach, gold beach and yachats..
I want to be on the coast as close to the shore as possible
@SW-User I like yachates a lot. cannon beach is upscale touristy somtimes
yes, Many!
i love the place, and am the perfect local guide
do you have a job there yet?
there is really only 1 big city,, but many small ones to live near.
I like it about 30 minutes outside any city..

what climate do you prefer?
the west is cool and moist, never gets real hot
the east is High and with many dryer places to live

housing is coslty tho.. give me some more details on what you want. I will choose from that.

@SatyrService No job, I’m not even settled on Oregon yet. I did love Portland though. Good vegan food options.

Climate... I’m not sure on. I know oregon gets cold, but I’ve never so much as touched snow, so I’m not sure how I’ll be. I prefer lush forests, and being somewhat close to a coast. I want to enjoy wildlife, plants, and be able to tend a garden. But also... I enjoy culture, food (veggie/vegan) and nice buildings.

I know. Tall order. Haha
@euphemiaelectra I should love the chance, to talk with you about just how this will work for you.
shall we be pals?

Was born there and grew up there, but haven't been in so long I'm not sure how it has progressed or not.

Maybe look up..

It looks quite beautiful! Not sure how good the hospitals are though. But very pretty.

been there a few times.. anywhere along the coast will be nice but spendy. you just need to travel and feel it out. I found Ashland particularly charming.

It depends on what type of hospitals you want. If you want city life, then everywhere but Portland, will feel like a "suburb". I live in Washington, but spend quite a bit of time in Oregon. Some people mentioned Bend, Beaverton, etc. but none have a teaching hospital, only Portland does, and they're not close to the ocean. Along the coast, it's beautiful, and forested, but no teaching/research hospitals.

Do you have a speciality, special training, education, etc?
springfield is very close to lots of nature, cheap to rent in, and there is a stunning hospital close by

I've heard it's really beautiful there and that Bend, Oregon is very nice.

Central Oregon in the Bend area is mostly rural and plenty of forest
