What propels suicide?

I was on the 86th street subway station in brooklyn, the 3rd n last leg of my daily morn commute. The R train was not running either direction...the pa intoned periodically that service was delayed due to an injured passenger on the 59th street station. Initial reports on local media online indicated a woman jumped inyo the tracks to retrieve a cell phone which fell...n subsequently fatally hit by an oncoming train. Power was then shut off delaying trains Despite constant posters warning do not jump on the tracks to retrieve anything fallen...i wanted to both strangle n hug n comfort her(metaphorically speaking). Later reports stated that investigators felt it was suicide. What torment possessed this woman? She is amongst the stars now...from which all of us were made from.

When you are drained of all hope, when you've convinced yourself that there is literally no way for you to be loved, to move forward in life, to get better, or that nobody is there for you, sometimes life itself seems like torture or a prison. You begin to get an obsessive urge to relieve your pain. And some people don't even believe they deserve relief. They just want to fade from existence entirely.. I cant tell you what caused her to go through with it, but anybody who attempts, has unfortunately succeeded, or has even had those thoughts has been in a very dark, lonely, cold place where they truly believe there is nothing left for them. I hope shes in a much better place now

Idk, man. Sometimes our circumstances and experiences in life box us in to a point we feel we have no way out or way to be at peace except through death. It's sad and tragic. But on the flipside if you choose to go the other route it can be a beautiful thing. Idk, man.

I don't think we can understand the pain of others, it is as individual as we are. I myself have been driven to the point of near madness, I crazy so that's why I'm still here.

@curiosi we all of us are...just differing in the degree😉

I have a followup.....does the type of suicide say somethi g of the person n thoughts? I am thinking there are far easier n painless ways to die(pills)....perhaps by dying the way she did she wanted the world to know of her n her torments...rsther than taking her life quietly, secluded...

@Winterwine I don't thinks so, taking pills isn't exactly painless. They feel themselves dying as their organs shut down. I believe it is a matter of convenience. One lives near the subway and that makes the most sense to them.

@curiosi one theory down the drain😉

Hopelessness.
I’m so sorry. In the 70s when the BART trains here were new, my father came home late, looking very distressed; his train had hit someone who had jumped off the platform. He said everyone was evacuated and put on buses above ground. I remember he was sad that someone had chosen to end their life. 😞

@bijouxbroussard john donne(circa1600s) said that "no man is an island..........so therefore never send for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee"
