Should fathers watch the birth of their children?

KaysHealingPath · 36-40, F
My husband held my leg and pushed my leg up for me while I pushed.
I told him to keep his eyes on my eyes but he looked.
He got very pale and very silent after that lol 😂
Then once our son was born and he had to cut the umbilical cord he just dropped my leg dead off the side of the table lol 😂
He cut the cord and was mesmerized by this chunky little alien like creature covered in gunk lol 😂
He followed the nurses around keeping an eye on him and them when he brought him over to me and I got to hold him and he cried and told me he was so proud.

But seriously though I’m surprised he didn’t pass out! Lol 😂 he can’t stand the sight of bodily fluids. He pukes lol 😂

If it matters that much to them. My dad has always been afraid of hospitals and that kinda stuff and couldn't stay inside the room when my mom was giving birth. He can't stand much blood and gets worried about health issues very easily, squeamish person 😄

It's their own choice, my son in law is very sensitive and it traumatised him, he ended up in a&e and only just made it back in time for the actual birth but it's put him off having anymore..😂
I don't think they need to watch, but be supportive of the woman having your baby.

Yes only in my opinion just because it's good to connect with the baby. Mothers have that connection because they carry the baby around for a year, I don't know the science of "motherly instinct" but it probably has something to do with a shared body between the two.

If they want to, it should be their choice. I would also just hope they would want to, to be with their partner during a beautifully bonding experience. My partner wants to be there for our birth. We've decided on free birthing and so he's going to deliver our baby. :)

Having been the 'midwife' to all kinds of farm animals I was not phased at all when watched Dear Wife deliver all six of our children. Perfectly natural occurance.

Do you want to?
Miram · 31-35, F
@Jackaloftheazuresand Vasovagal response is completely out of your control even you think you've experienced more serious situations, it can happen. Last week someone passed out just from the smell, he didn't even make it to the delivery room.

@Miram well things that make me sick have to do with food so I think that's where mine lies. I used to throw up in my mouth when kids would mix chocolate milk, mashed potatoes and all sorts of things on their lunch tray.

@Jackaloftheazuresand Me too. I couldn't stand it but also certain noises.

You can be in the room and not stare directly into the abyss.

@Elegy Good advice! Otherwise it could end up to be like Stacy's vagina.

@SatanBurger I've read a number of his books. I pointed that out about your name a very long time ago. I've had a number of username changes since though. ;)

If the prospective parents want to, then why not? I did.
