Do you ever think you belong somewhere else?

Whenever I watch a film or TV series that is set in London or New York I always feel that my life should be lived there. if things worked out a certain way I would have had to move to London for a period of time for work when I was 21 but that didn't happen. Do I actal belong there or have I got a romanticised view of the cities because they are so wonderful that I want to believe I belong there.

(Sorry for the long post)

I would actually like to live in another century in another country.

Life was simple then and less crowded@SW-User I just like how they did things, made things, expressed themselves, dressed, etc., no cars, internet, none if that existed.
SW-User
@SW-User they had plenty of challenges I would not have liked to face though.

@SW-User True but its fun to fantasize, read about and watch flicks that take place back then.

Yeah I’m pretty sure I belong in California but here I am, stuck in NYC.
SW-User
@summersong any particular reason you feel that way?
summersong · F
@SW-User it’s just a more comfortable environment for me, both physically and socially

@summersong
I live in California and I wish I was in New York sometimes, or London. I guess we should just be content!🙂

I felt like that when I was younger!
I moved to the USA when I was 19...
Had a few years there!
Then back to Ireland for a year then I moved to Switzerland!
It was good there too!
My dream changed and I returned to Dublin again!
I feel very different here now!
But I do love Ireland!
I have now become 3.
If my husband said were upping sticks and moving abroad with our child and pets I'd be totally on for it!
He has family ties here... I just have a brother.. Who can visit when he likes.. 😁

@Dusty101 wow that's a lot of change in your life. I love Wales as well just have that nagging feeling am I holding myself back.

@SW-User just don't hold yourself back and go!

I feel like I belong in Cincinnati(Ohio)(US lol)… Where the gay population lives not with all these "Straight" rural idiots. but, yeah I have no motivation lol New York is WAAAY too crowded. You even got Spiderman entertainers that actually distract you while their children pickpocket your watches and wallets. Way to expensive too
SW-User
@pride49 I don't know much about Cincinnati to be fair.

I just loved new York when I was there. I guess the idea or dream of something is far better than reality most of the time.

@SW-User Yeah Watching our tourist group get pickpocketed was HILARIOUS! stole the watch right off this bitchy lady. funny stuff
Every day .. but I want to be far away from major cities
SW-User
@Stillwaiting anywhere in particular though?
Moonlightfae · 51-55, F
Yes during my last two marriages i knew i truly belonged with my first husband. I'm now back in his arms.
Moonlightfae · 51-55, F
@PoetryNEmotion he knew i still loved him he still married me
Moonlightfae · 51-55, F
@SW-User yes i have thanks
@Moonlightfae He was foolish to marry someone not over her ex. Seems he pays the most cost.

(sorry for my bad English):it's not too late to do what you haven't done when you were 21. The best way to know if you really belong in London is to live there for a few months.
give it a try!
SW-User
@aloysia unfortunately that ship has sailed now. Ps. Nothing wrong with your English 😁

All the time. But it's related rather to people than place. I should be surrounded by different people.
IllegallyBlonde · 46-50, F
I have thought those things in the past but look around and realize I'm happy where I am.
Carazaa · F
I belong in London for sure. I think I could be happy there too!

Are we talking Grange Hill or Downtown Abbey?
It is wishful thinking. If you really wanted to achieve that ambition, you would have already tried to live there. Make your dreams a reality if you dare.
@SW-User They are excuses. If you really wanted to be somewhere else, you would do so. I have moved to another country to fulfill my career aspirations. Never regretted it. Dreams are important to me and to my life. I have many that I am working on even now. You are never too old to achieve your wanted dreams.
SW-User
@PoetryNEmotion I'm really pleased for you. Well done. I can only blame myself for not achieving my ambitions 👍🏾
@SW-User Thanks. It is your life. You decide if dreams sleep forever or become real. No regrets.
