At what age did you buy your first house?

@Stereoguy The VP of personnel came in to the retailer I was working for at that time. All buying managers had to rotate to approve returns to the store. Anyway, the gentleman had to return a very expensive pair of shoes and we didn't carry them nor did any of the stores in our region. He had pretty much been told too bad. Then it got to me and I called around to see what I could find and made an agreement with the sister store for him to get the size he needed and for us to ship the returned shoes to them. He was very impressed but he had aldo been very flirty while i was trying to help him. When he handed me his card and told me to attach it to my resume, i thought he was trying to pick me up because he gave me another with his personal number on the back. My friend and I drove to the office and I gave the receptionist my resume. I didn't even get started home before my car phone started ringing. I was interviewed and hired on the spot.

@Stereoguy thank you... my debt should be zero within the next six months or so... and I have been saving a bit... still going to have to borrow against my 401k to get a decent downpayment, but the plans are in motion.

@ms20182878 oh... never mind... I wasn't even alive. I'm not even sure if my mom was alive back then.
ms20182878 · 61-69, M
@FurElise House prices were lower back in the "good old days"... The value of that house now is $380K. But wages were lower also... I was making about $6.50 per hour.

houses were a lot more affordable back then. The asking price was £2000, but I knocked them down to £1900, I think my mortgage was about £25 a month. That same house was on the market recently for £750,000.
Aigis · 26-30, F
@Tuscan £2000 for a house... Jeezo. I wish I could buy one for that
Tuscan · 70-79, M
@Aigis houses were available for a lot less than that in the 1970s when I was 19.
