Do you believe there are things you can do that you can never come back from our do you believe in the possible redemption from anything?

Redemption: being saved from sin or evil.

The concept of evil was invented philosophically by the ancient Greeks.

Do I think I can be saved from a human invented concept?

No. I think that every day we wake up we get to choose our actions, words, thoughts to a great degree. If I buy into the idea of evil I'm thinking wrong.

- This is too deep for me lol I can't even work out philosophically if I agree with the ancient Greeks - gut instinct I do not. So no I can't be saved from a made up concept because to buy into it means I'm trapped in it. I'd have to throw out the concept of evil and sin to be saved from it in which case I wouldn't need saving from it.

@KaiserSolze wether or not we had philosophical discussion about it bad shit existed before the Greeks. Do you mean that bad things are not evil or that there are just circumstances and no good or bad? Or am I totally missing it?

@Genieinabottle I mean things either are or aren't. We do things or we don't do things. They are grey rather than black or white.

The intent or emotion we attach then leads our brain to think they are black or white.

Eg having sex with others whilst married - fact that happened, it's grey, it's an action. Your wife feels bad, it's now got emotions attached and is sin to her. You feel guilty, it's sin. That's all illusion. It's an action, something you did, grey.

My cheating experience: I cheated after I was cheated on and said he could sleep around if he wanted but I wanted him to be honest. He lied. So my own actions could be: two wrongs don't make a right, sin. It's ok because he deserved it, not sin. To me it was grey. I did what I did because I wanted to and telling him was funny. I feel neither ok about it or bad about it. I did it, the end, grey.

Other things are worse, much more negative connotations, guilt ridden happenings. Much more difficult to see as grey. But grey.

No, I don’t believe in possible redemption for anything. Some things are unforgivable even if they can be hidden or forgotten by most.
