Would you have signed up for your current life circumstances if you knew them in advance?

To be honest, I think only very few people are really happy with most of the paths they've chosen.

But... Whenever I'm in doubt about that,
I imagine myself that I could've made worse choices, I could've hurt more people, I could've become an insensible person, I could've followed the path of both or either one of my parents, I could've chosen not to build a career and waste my life (more). I could've been in an abusive relationship, I could've been with people who understood me even less or only try to take advantage of me, I could have some very bad disease which could've left me with no opportunity to even better life and just die after all the misery, I could have not had a cousin I really love and try to protect, she could've hated me in stead of feeling that same sisterly bond with me, I could have not met people who influenced my life in a positive way because it was all by chance, ...

So many things could have happened, yet they didn't. When I think about that, my life suddenly doesn't seem so bad anymore :-))

Not a chance. I do not regret it though as it has only made me more aware.

If I could’ve decided I wouldn’t be not even a spermatozoa

No, If I can pick and choose, I'd pick a ultra comfy life riding around on a unicorn.
Since I can't have that, I'll keep my life as it is, it's hard, but that's okay. I'll stick with what I know.
I would have killed myself years ago

@MorbidCynic You've got plenty of time to make it stop sucking.
@GeistInTheMachine I have no idea on what to do. There is nothing I actually want to do. I hate leaving my house and I get exhausted easily. Being around people wears me down so fast too.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@MorbidCynic I know exactly how that feels. Like a prison - stuck in a loop.

I don't have regrets for the choices and decisions I've made. But if I had the gift of knowing in advance how things would be as they are today and that I could have done something differently to change them... yes, I would do my part to have better behaved... better educated myself... been more informed. But then again, I'm sure I would have made other mistakes and possibly could have made equally as bad decisions. We're human. We're going to make mistakes.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@bonviveur Very well put.

It is what it is...fight to the end. No one lives forever. Eventually we will find out what this is all about.
GlitterBug · 22-25, F
Yes. The way I see it is if I’m the one dealing with these issues, it’s mine and not someone else’s. Someone else is spared the trouble and the trauma because I had to endure it rather than them. And honestly, I’m okay with that.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@GlitterBug If I'm understanding correctly, you're saying that a different consciousness would take your place if you weren't you?
GlitterBug · 22-25, F
@GeistInTheMachine well possibly. Certain situations would’ve just fallen into someone else’s hands though even if it wasn’t someone with my consciousness.
There’s also things that have to do with time and place, I was there right then and so this happened but if another person was there rather than me it would’ve happened to them instead. I hope I’m making sense
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@GlitterBug Sort of like the butterfly effect.

@SW-User Good on you.
Yes I am content
Reject · 26-30, M
No, I probably would have killed myself sooner.
Reject · 26-30, M
@GeistInTheMachine The things that make me this way are ones I have no control over. I couldn't make a change in them if I tried with everything I had.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@Reject I'm sorry. Still, I think you can find a way out of your situation.
juiceyangel333 · 31-35, F
@Reject that's how I feel
Femme4thewin · 22-25, F
Definitely. My struggles have made me the person I am. I’m strong clever and compassionate. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@Femme4thewin Impressive.
Femme4thewin · 22-25, F
@GeistInTheMachine Thank you. It took a lot of work on myself but I got through it.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
Tough question. Very fortunate in most ways. Unfortunate in a couple. But you play the hand you’re dealt, and I think I’ve come out ahead. So I’ll answer yes.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@Harmonium1923 Glad to hear it.

I don’t know.... it isn’t over for me yet.... and 1) maybe we actually did that 2) we did fight everyone one else for a chance to live or at least the mother who carried us did.
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
No fucking way!!!
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@Jeephikelove I fucking hear you.
