How does it feel to forget?

I’ve been away from home (in a different country) for about 5 years; sometimes unwillingly.

I might get a chance to go for a visit this Christmas. I should be ecstatic at the thought. I am not :(
In fact I can’t seem to feel anything.

I don’t even know if i wanna visit anymore or not.

I wanna feel excited about it but can’t.

Anyone with the same experience?
Is this normal?

I am beginning my eighth year in my apartment. Prior to that, I lived at home taking care of first my grandmother, then parents, one at a time, for a total of fifty-four years.

Things change, and my younger brother nagged at me until I sold the house. I was alone and needed a place to live. I happened to "luck into" an apartment managed by the man who bought my home. It is only a block-and-a-half from the house, but I am familiar with the stores, bus routes, and people still in the neighborhood. I wouldn't want to go elsewhere. I LIKE being on my own.

Go back. Visit. See what has changed since you were last there. You don't have to stay longer than you want to stay.
It's normal. It just means "home" is no longer your home.
