Any age, the complexity in the replies though will be adjusted to the age, and what they can comprehend. However, I won't tell them what to believe for their own. It's a private matter, and choice we'll have to do each and one of us.

At any age that they ask questions. By the time my kids were in junior high they had been exposed to may types of religions. In college both kids took various classes, and then decided on their own about what they wanted to believe in or not.

In my house, I am very intentional about being open with my kids about ANY topic - as long as the time they want to discuss it is appropriate. They grew up having discussions about their bodies, bodily functions, sexuality, masturbation, drugs, alcohol, abortion etc as they grew. No question is off limits.
If they ask it, I answer openly and honestly and we discuss it.

It's never too early to answer a child's questions on anything.. tailor the conversation to their understanding but answer honestly and without lecturing and making it into a religious teaching.

At the age they start asking about it. If not they'll ask someone else or worse google it... Might as well be the first one who says something on the matter before someone else will.

I say teach them when they are young. No time like the present. And don't wait for them to ask.
