I never used any corner time that I can recall, and I don't remember any such as a kid, but as best I understand some reasons are extended embarrassment, and forcing you to think without distraction while your bottom is stinging from a spanking

@th3r0n No apology needed. Perhaps some like her DO receive a well deserved, very sound bare bottom spanking delivered by hand, paddle or say, hairbrush. That said, it could very well be, that the recipient of a spanking,(she in this case) etc. might be told to stand in the corner. She'd need to say if this (getting her bottom crimson colored via physical discipline) is/was the case.

If you think corner time is stupid, what other methods do you think or have you given thought to that would accomplish something (behavioral change, attitude adjustment?) where corner time won't?
She looks like perhaps a teen, and I'd say, just putting her to stand in a corner for whatever indiscretions she did, then OK. Perhaps too young to be spanked or paddled.
I guess simply standing in a corner lets you reflect on your behavior, otherwise you wouldn't be there.
