I Am A Strict Mom

And you wonder why Asians get all the good jobs. A few weeks ago, outside the Alexander School of Science in Singapore, this child got it from her Tiger Mom with a little assistance from Dad....

Whatever the situation at school was -- it was so alarming to the parents they both came in separate cars. This might have happened in the U.S. also -- but they would have stormed over to give the teacher a piece of their mind who had looked cross-eyed at their perfect daughter!

When the surreptitious video started Mom had already tried to discipline her child -- but she had the rebellious audacity to try and physically prevent her Mom. Dad was able to give her a bit of a whipping. But, then when her Mom went to the car and got her a tissue to wipe away tears, she started giving her mother a bunch of backtalk about picking up her stuff. Mom had to go back to the car -- this time to get a switch to hold over her.

I'll bet she got a real (well-deserved) spanking once they got home!

The school should have punished her for breaking the school rules and expectations (and I have no problem if that punishment was corporal punishment) and the parents should punish her for breaking the family's rules and expectations -- and that might be corporal punishment regardless of what the school's punishment was.

However, I agree with my parents' rule :[i]"Get spanked at school -- get another one at home"[/i] -- my parents were not alone --that used to be the way the parents were -- and this is not exactly ancient history.

In this case I am not quite sure what was going on. Spanking was nothing new in this family -- they came prepared with cane(s)/switche(s). So what was with the public scene? They should not have been disciplining her outside the school since their daughter appears not to have learned to take her punishment like a young lady. Hopefully they did some practicing once they got home.

But regardless, it is still great to see some parents who are not hesitant or ashamed to discipline their child!

@beckychandler: I agree it's great to see parents who still know how to parent!

I also agree that the rule should always be a spanking at school means a spanking at home. I also think that a school needs to discipline when kids misbehave at school it can't abdicate that responsibility to parents! And beyond that most of the time detention or other school punishments are seen as a joke by kids so spankings are needed to make the kids fear and respect the school.
