I Will Be Myself And Not What Others Want Me To Be

I’ve recently been diagnosed with both of these things and as horrible as it is to have an anxiety disorder, as much as i wouldn’t wish these feelings upon anybody, i’m not afraid to admit that i suffer from mental illness. It’s ok not to be ok and it doesn’t make us any less strong.

It's more common than people think. I don't know if it's just coincidence but most young women I met were diagnosed with GAD. I have problems too but I've never visited a doctor with it.

But aren't those anxiety attack symptoms?
They sound rather mild in compare to what I heard from people who were diagnosed with panic disorder. They said to me that in panic attack you are convinced that you are going to die and that your brain literally acts as if you had a heart attack or another life threatening condition.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Also, tetanic attack has similar symptoms and usually is related to GAD but from what I understand, it's a separate condition that isn't difficult to diagnose and treat. Usually it's just magnesium deficiency and if you have a suspicion you can try taking it for a couple of months to see if it helps to improve your state. But there are other causes too so it's best to have blood tests and exams like EMG first. Since tetania is mostly caused by poor stress management, antidepressants are suggested as a part of the treatment but personally, I wouldn't take that route before I tried other alternatives.

Also, another sign of tetania is that drinking alcohol makes it far worse and can actually trigger an attack.

@SW-User thank you very much
Ugh, if I could only be bothered to list the dianosis's I'm supposed to have.
Theres so many
Autism,
Depression
Bi polar
Ptsd
Panic attacks
Screwed up hormone levels
Insomnia
OCD
Night terrors
Sensory processing issues
And that's just the mental amd emotional stuff - I have physical issues as well.

But... It doesn't stop your life - it can put it on pause sometimes, it can colour it.

It's taugnt me I'm stronger than I thought, I've learnt to ask for help, and thr good days are awesome - tje good moments are appreciated So much more - you never take them for granted.

Nobodies normal - many hide it or deal with it badly - some even take it out on others.

Learning to accept who you are is the first step in the right direction, then you learn to adapt.

I've dealt with anxiety and general depression for 20 years. Currently on meds which have helped a lot. In the last decade I've gotten to know a lot of people who deal with it to varying degrees. I really wish you luck. It can be managed.

@SW-User I still have a lot of the free help pages printed out. It helped knowing that what I was going through was not all that rare.
PhilDeep · 51-55, M
Hope a consequence of your diagnosis is professional support, by way of medication or therapy if they thought it necessary. I used to get panic attacks but learned about them and how to stop them so it's definitely possible. (Not had any for years now!) Generalised anxiety is harder but there are still good techniques that hopefully could help you manage. All the best with that.
SW-User
Thank you very much 😊 @PhilDeep

I agree! And being honest as you have. I have PTSD, and depression too. Being Willa, active, and creative lifts my day, mood, and spirits! Bless you and I hope you find your own way to deal with and to brighten your daily life, because it is a daily life struggle. I know.

The first step to dealing with any mental illness is acceptance. Congratulstions, you are on your way to recovery.

I still love you anyway. I suffer from depression, and anxiety.

@SW-User Ah, it makes me who I am. I am not sure if I would like myself better if I was a normie.
sandrides · 31-35, M
One thing, Disorders are only in west. There are nothing as such in more than 50+ countries. I am trying to say, disorders etc are a business in west as you people run to. There are a dozen million who have these disorders, but we dont have centers to treat and we don't give a damn that we had a disorder. We had many things in life that already hit us hard, so no space for you buddy, bye bye , it is what we say and leave it :)
@sandrides it's funny - I've tied meds - didn't like them... Learnt to accept amd let my feelings flow... Fighting them only made them worse - learning to live with them means you get used to them - amd eventually - things don't hit so. Hard Amy more.

Humans are adaptable.
Plus I tell myself - I have food in my stomach amd a roof over my head, amd my body mostly works - life is good😊

@KiwiBird Thank you
Neither generalized anxiety disorder nor panic disorder are conditions of mental illness. They're both symptoms of your persona being out of alignment with your inner being. Unless there's something organically wrong with your brain, you're not mentally ill.
xixgun · M
Not to be dismissive or make light of your diagnosis, how come no one wonders why 40 years ago hardly anyone suffered from these things when now almost everyone does?
SW-User
I don’t think it’s because these things didn’t exist 40 years ago. I think it’s because 1. There wasn’t as much understanding of mental health and research as there is now and 2. There was a bigger stigma around mental illness 40 years ago and a lot of people didn’t speak out about their struggles or seek help as much as they do now. @xixgun
@SW-User exactly - I ran away from more than one psychologists diagnosis I'm my time - afraid to be labled.
Understanding has changed, but still has a long way to go.
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@xixgun there was a stigma attached to this and very few people openly admitted to having these feelings so as to not be labeled crazy.

UpForItNow · 22-25, F
I think these things are even more common than they're reported to be. The demands and difficulties of modern life are enough to challenge the strongest person's mental health.
