Anyone ever implied they finished college degree?

So I just started at this great, pretty large company 6 months ago. I had put the dates on my resume and area of study initially. No one ever questioned me about it or really point blank asked me if I graduated. I'm only 6 hours from finishing, but this was about 7-8 years ago. Im still thinking about going back to finish. Anyhow, I got through the initial part of this whole thing 6 months ago, no one batted an eye during the hiring process, passed background check etc.. I'm worried now as I just got promoted and during my promotion convo the big boss was making conversation about my degree. It turns out he has did the same area of study (psychology) I didn't have the guts to tell them I didn't finish by a small margin and now I really worried. Do they have to ask me before checking? Should I just pray and hope no one does another background check? Has this happened to anyone else and it worked out? For the record I was in school 5 and have more than enough credits for a degree. They just didn't line up and I am 6 shy of the psychology degree. Any advice would be appreciated.

They have not requested a transcript which is good . However most companies do have a moralities clause and if they ever checked , could cost you your job. My advice is to finish your undergrad work ( on line) and then quietly tuck away your beautiful deloploma .

Try to find out how you can finish what you started. There are online classes, etc.

Yes, I am so freaked out that my plan is to make a call tomorrow and see about signing up for fall to finish the credits I need. I'm just worried they'll find out in the meantime.

@Brassm0nk3y: Tell them it's projected and scheduled.

The background check should have cleared that.

@TearDropsOfLove: yeah you would think but I'm worried they would do another one for promotion and apart of me wonders if they only did a criminal background check initially.

@Brassm0nk3y: I am thinking they will not do another check for promotion. They already approved you to work for the company from your initial hiring process. I have never had another background check when being promoted after being hired. I would safely bet you are safe.
Is the degree relevant to your job?

@nihiless: no its really not. I'm in sales
