Called out for wrong verbiage while talking to huge potential client

So was trying to setup a huge meeting today with a big client. We have an exclusive partnership with a huuuuge fortune 10 company..it's one of our selling points..instead of saying "we are partnered with x company" I said "partially owned"... higher up who is always nice to me overheard (happened to be like 15 feet away in different room) came in and hardcore chewed me out..was an honest mistake but embarrassing...said I didn't realize was a slip up will make sure it doesn't happen again..eeek now I can't stop thinking about it.. how bad do I look on scale of 1-10..think it will blow over and be forgotten about? Think it will effect my good standing with that guy in the long run? I'm a top performer but I'm worried he'll always remember it and it will taint me foreverrr

Once there's been a little cool down time, why don't you request a meeting and discuss it? Explain that it was a slip of the tongue, and that you are not habitually making mistakes like that. Your record should speak for itself, but it can't hurt to just have a personal chat about it.

@Serenitree: so true love this thank you for taking the time to answer. Made me feel better.

@Brassm0nk3y: just remain calm. If you can be cool under that kind of pressure, the higher up will notice it.

Have to chat it out. Keep your own performance up and once things cool down do as Serenitree says

It was a serious misrepresentation. I think it could cost you dearly in the future, I'm sorry to say. Or are both phrases equally true (one being preferred)?
