@MightyAphrodite: actually, you can build up your credit with bad credit. That's why I want to get a credit card. To pay off my bills and build my credit.

I wouldn't recommend a credit card. Those things are dangerous if you abuse them. If you charge too much you'll end up paying for it for a year or more. I should know because I was in the hole for a while.
