Can they sack me?

I suffer with bad eczema and my employers said they would pay the £100 excess on my company health scheme to try and get it sorted. I actually think I am suffering red skin syndrome, which is a withdrawal effect when you stop using steroid creams and I don't want to use anything steroid related. Well, I saw the dermotologist and he wants me to take steroid tablets, but I also suffer with rosacea. My own doctor has not prescribed steroids as he says it will make my rosacea worse, and I have read this online too. So I don't want to do what they suggest. Can they sack me over it?

Not sure if which country you are in and what your work contract includes. However, if your eczema is preventing you from working and they have offered to assist your recovery and you decline and choose to be off on sick leave at their cost then maybe they can

I am in the UK.

@Moonstar14: and are you taking sick leave or workplace disability because of it?

No, they cannot legally sack you over denying treatment, especially if you and your doctor have said that it's a good reason to deny that treatment. If they try to, lawyer up and take their $$.
No, if they try get a lawyer and sue. Keep all communiction in email format and save them on a separate personal computer or print them out for your records

They might try but no one can force you to take a course of treatment that you do not want.

No, but you could lose health coverage

Is your rosacea really that bad though?

I only got rosacea after taking Prednisolone steroids once before. It is just getting better after me suffering badly with it for several years hence why I don't want it flaring up again.
