Have you ever had a county government job?

Laziest employees EVER! Ugh!
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
I had a city job. I had to work fairly hard. I painted parking meter poles and parking lot guard rails. I weeded parking lot gardens. I assembled parking meter tops. I cleaned the sign shop, I helped move stuff for a police auction. Lots of odd jobs.

I have worked or the federal government, pretty hard, for 22 years, as a mathematician.

I have worked in many places (including state government).

There are really lazy people everywhere. The issue is who gets promoted through the management ranks. If you promote lazy, you get lazy.

@SW-User You have a point.

I worked as the communications director for our county's commission for about five months. It was a nightmare, but not because the employees didn't work hard. Honestly, it was one of the tightest run ships I've ever served on, which was one of the reasons it was a bit of a hellscape.

You will have lazy employees everywhere as there is always the one that knows someone will do it. The thing about being in production is that a fail along any part is traceable back to that person. So if you don’t want to do your job you stick out like a sore thumb!

Yeah, they have another name for laziness now called “laidback”. I was contacted to do a governments job 7 years ago, but couldn’t stand the slow progress and lack of interest everyone around me showed. I quit after 6 months.

@SW-User I can understand that!

This is what happens when you can't fire people

@HoraceGreenley Oh, they can. Believe me. They just choose not to. I work in a county detention center.
