When you call-in, are you forced to use PTO or do you go unpaid?

My job [u]takes[/u] your PTO if you don't come in. I'd much rather just go unpaid.
It's so stupid. If I don't want to work, why are you paying me?

I've only called in twice but ugh..

We have to use sick time, which is separate. But they do make you use pto or sick time if you have it. The only time I've witnessed being able to go without either is jury duty or bereavement.

I can decide if I want to use PTO, I usually use it since I get about 19 hours a month.

PTO, or I can say I'm working from home [this only works if I brought my laptop home -- I generally don't.].
