Big Decision

I just got offered a position with my work in a city ways away. I'll be managing a downtown store at the same pay but I'd be saving money in the long run. I have a friend who is going to let me stay with him and split rent for $500 + utilities. Currently my rent is $1000+ but no utilities.

I am leaning toward taking it but I'm afraid of making that call. I've made so many decisions in the last three years in the name of bettering my life and each time it has left me in a worst off spot. If that happens again, I don't think I could take it. Yeah, I'd have my friend as a safety next but mentally I don't know of I can handle another failed attempt to find happiness.

It's easier to just remain where I am in the routine I have as it's familiar even if at times I struggle to stay afloat financially. But I feel so hollow in it. Plus, I just started a D&D campaign and I'm really enjoying it and the people I'm playing with.

I need to have an answer by the am. I still don't know what to do. I don't think I can just decide. I may need to flip a coin or roll a d20 or something.

@Carla That's my thought process. The store needs help with staff coaching and admin organization. Both of these are what I excel at which is why they want me.

In addition, the friend I am going to stay with works for the government and is trying to get me a job there. Living there already would help with that.

Yes,@bunnyXbunny,seize opportunities when they arise. Show off what you got.
Besides, change is an adventure. We need as many of those as we can grab.

It’s a sideways move . You really aren’t making a higher wage so why go through the trouble expense of a move? They need to up the pay or you should turn it down ...

@TexChik They won't pay more. The sales targets for my new store are lower so the chances of me meeting sales bonuses are higher. So that is the supplemental income they are offering.

If there is more opportunity for advancement it would be a good move, if this is your chosen career. If it is a more chalanging location and you do well, it will look good on your resume.

@TexChik sorry. Didnt mean this as a reply to you. Sloppy commenting...on me:[
Whatever decision you make , would be the right decision. Believe in yourself and your intuition. I am sorry that last few years been though but that's exactly how it meant to be. Everything happens for a reason. Just be a good person x

@Awfullybrave Thanks. I really appreciate this insight.
You're welcome :)

Familiarity is comfortable but progress usually means making a change. Only you can know for sure if you are up to it but if you are is seems like there is opportunity both with your current company and possibly your friend helping you find a government job.

Personally I'd at least ask for more money because as far as their concerned you aren't gaining anything for so why would you do it. It's them that need you.
bunnyXbunny · 36-40, M
@JovialPlutonian They won't. It's more of a sign of faith move. The chance to get my sales bonuses increase as the goals set are lower.

@bunnyXbunny I think they're just using you but I suppose it doesn't mean it wouldn't be good for you.
