Is having a minimum wage a good idea?

If so why?
SW-User
Yeah, otherwise companies would just pay people dirt cheap for whatever the work they do just to increase profits.

@waleskinder Instead of making an ass out of yourself and saying I'm dumb with no real explanation as to why I am, perhaps you can give an argument why people shouldn't have a right to a minimum wage? Also liking your own comments is pretty childish.

Yeah - if you pay people too little you end up with general social degradation as you have a large class of working poor. This causes shit like more strain on health care systems, more crime, lower social progress, etc. The idea is you want as many as people possible earning a living wage or more.

And more vitally, if they are not given enough to live off of, they will take enough to live off of which can start at crippling strikes and end with violence directed at the employing class.

If it’s the only place we can find to be hired, something is better than nothing, right?

Definitely ...
It's good for the economy apart from being good for the economy... The more money in circulation the more economic activity the healthier the economy

any job you work 40 hours per week for needs to let you live an independand live. no additional footstamps etc needed to get along.

if you cant pay a person that kind of money for the job then that job isnt a job in the first place.

It is a good thing. You earn what you put in. I do not understand the mindset of paying $15 for a fast food job. That job was not meant to be a career in the long run. 🤷‍♀️

No. Having a living wage is a good idea so people can earn enough to be self sufficient.
TheunderdogofNY · 36-40, M
@zeeva70 who or what determines that figure?
zeeva70 · F
@TheunderdogofNY There's already a standard formula based on cost of living in respective cities. Here's a calculator

It should be a low wage that no one would want to pay it. Not forced to pay it.
