Is it wrong

To regularly cancel sitters hours unpaid? Casual arrangement but do need her there twice a week to help out.
BlueVeins · 22-25
Kinda bad to do it frequently, unless that was understood in advance.
Jenni855 · 36-40, F
@BlueVeins We do.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Jenni855 Well, then make sure she's aware of that, and that the situation isn't likely to change.
Jenni855 · 36-40, F
@BlueVeins Ok we should do this really although that may mean she will leave

Don't be surprised when she finds employment elsewhere and isn't available to you at all.
BalmyNites · F
Put yourself in her shoes - would you feel it would be wrong if she regularly cancelled/let you down, on the justification that it's only 'casual'?
BalmyNites · F
@Jenni855 Not necessarily - perhaps she feels you don't really value her time/services anyway, so is prioritising elsewhere? We all need to feel appreciated.
Jenni855 · 36-40, F
@BalmyNites Maybe. It's just frustrating. When we cancel it's for good reason. I get she needs to be paid but does feel she is lying and making up excuses at the moment

@Jenni855 Perhaps you cannot see the logic because you are too close to the situation, whereas to me, it is blatantly obvious there are double standards here & if, as you say, you "do need her there twice a week to help out" then best you start treating her with respect.

If the sitter is an adult and is counting on those wages for a purchase, such as a used car, then cancelling "regularly" is very wrong.

@4meAndyou She is an adult. We do really value her, its just unavoidable at times.
