Please help

SoI'm paying for accommodation for a friend of mine and the hotel he's staying at IBIS Sydney hotel asked for a picture of my VISA Debit card (front & back) together with the name of my friend whom I'm paying for and check in/out details but why would they need the back pic of my VISA card which has the pin!!! So I've just sent them a reply with just my Debit card's front pic cause I really want my friend to have a place to stay for the night but do you think they could drain my account or sth without my PIN code?

MANY THANKS FOR YOUR THOUGHTS

It's standard procedure to show up physically with the card used for the reservation. They swipe it and give it back to you right there.
If you're not physically present when your friend checks in, it could be tricky.

Don't share your PIN (usually 4-digit). The 3-digit code in the back is not the pin. You share it with the merchants online.
You can monitor the transaction from your bank account. Most hotel only charge when you or your friends actually vacate the room.

What @eMortal said. That number on the back isn't your PIN, it's a verification/security code that's used for transactions made without the card or holder being present.
