Is this sceanrio common?

Your manager gives you a task, but the directions are incredibly vague. They don’t have the time or the willingness to give you more information. The worry sets in. If you don’t get it right, it’s going to be bad, but how do you get it right when you don’t know what they want you to do? your heart is in your mouth, not knowing whether you’ve done the right thing or all that work was for nothing.

That's fairly common when you start a new job or role. Expectations on a new employee shouldn't be that great unless you have experience of the same thing elsewhere. Just try to do your best, ask colleagues for help if you need it and take constructive feedback where you can.

What would happen if you explained this to your manager? A good one would listen and clarify things...a bad one...who knows

@Fernie This was my first job (after college), it gave me ptsd. After which they move me somewhere else, i totally went numb.

After which my new supervisor, is as mention above.

I felt upsad, seeing other getting promoted faster then me. Despite i did get promoted while recovering. Still i am semi zombie.
