How many hours should the standard work week be?

jackson55 · M
As many as it takes to get the job done.

@jackson55 Do you think that will typically be more than 40 or less?
jackson55 · M
@33person No, 40 seems to be the normal wood week for most. But I've worked many 55/60 hr work weeks.

@pagandad Medicare for all would take the entire responsibility of providing insurance away from employers.

@33person who's going to pay for universal health care?

@jackson55 Very good question. So right now, over the next ten years, the American people and the government (whose money comes from the American people) are collectively going to spend 49 trillion dollars providing themselves with healthcare. Under universal healthcare, that number would be 32 trillion. That money still ultimately comes from the American people. It would all be in the form of taxation. For most people, including the owners of small business, there would be net savings from increased taxes back lack of insurance premiums. For the wealthiest people, they would end up net paying a bit more, but the argument is that they can. Ultimately, even if we do not fund it progressively, the American people still collectively save 17 trillion dollars over the next decade (49 - 32 = 17)
