I Want to Write a Book

A Bump In The Road... I have always enjoyed writing. I mostly write poems and short stories, but I enjoy most forms of writing. It is a passion of mine. So I ventured to write a book, but encountered a problem. After initially figuring out where exactly to start the novel, I set of writing like a storm. But four to five chapters in, I would be uncertain how to proceed. I'd have a general plot, but I am not used to writing stories of this length. I run out of ideas for things to say and eventually, I give up.

After scrapping my first attempt at a novel, I tried again. Only this time, I planned the novel beforehand and had my planning with me as I wrote. That didn't help much either. I managed to get thirteen chapters out, but the chapters were all too short. It felt rushed. So I gave up yet again.

Though I haven't given up to frustration completely yet. I understand that a book is a project that takes time and effort, but somehow I can't overcome this hurdle. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips that might help me get past this particular obstacle?
