I Am Short

When I was 14 or so, my younger brothers (13, 12, 11), my friend Tomasz (9) and I were taken to a fayre with lots of rides and amusments. There were several rides I couldn't go on because I was too small. However my younger brothers could because they were very tall. But I found my balance with Tom because he and I were about the same size and able to go on smaller rides together.

One such ride was the donkey rides which my brothers were all too big for. Tom and I weren't so we had a few goes There are benefits to being small!

I'm small in both senses, but though I now accept being short-endowed I never found being short in stature satisfying. Still, it may have one advantage.

Last week you were both talking about wearing boys' size clothes, and I thanked Gumba for the 0%-rate VAT tip. A day or so later I happened to wear a pair of small briefs that fitted me well, but I don't recall their origin. Either I bought them in a clearance sale or they were from assorted old clothes cleared from our parents' home. (We were a family of hoarders, I still have my original PE shorts by sheer chance!). The label says they are for a waist size about 3" less than mine, aged 11-12 and has lines for writing name and class! So next time I need to buy clothes, I'll keep an eye on Aldi or Lidl.

Will certainly bear it in mind! And the slimmer size fits my smaller "physique" better, too!

@ArishMell It's the only way you get a bulge.

Pretty well, yes, these days anyway. Still, mustn't grumble - I have had a love-life in the past.

Nice. I remember donkey rides by the seaside. Small is satisfying.

They still have donkeys on Weymouth Sands - I don't know how common these are nowadays.

"Small is satisfying" - I'll go along with that, being small myself.
