This is the the true story of Halloween.The Celts in Ireland started Halloween.They called it Samhain(pronounced sow-win).They believed the veil between the world of the living and the world of the dead was very thin at this time and this allowed the souls of the dead to enter the world of the living.They would put gifts of food at their doors to appease the souls of the dead.They believd the dead would play tricks on them if they didn't.They would also go in costumes so the dead wouldn't recognize them.They would also leave a chair open for them.They also thought a person born at this time would have second-sight.They belived a black horse with red eyes called The Pooka would tell people their fortunes.And them we have Jack O' Lantrens.They believed a very evil man man named Jack had died and Hevaen didn't want him and he was too evil for Hell.So he was condemned to walk the Earth forever.He would carve a lantern out of a turnip and used this to find his way.Halloween came to Ireland with the Celts in pre Christian times.Also if you heard the scream of The Banshee you were about to die.
