I Need to Be Intellectually Stimulated

One of the things I really dislike about being retired is how mindnumingly boring it is not to have the intellectual challenges I used to have when I was an engineer and scientist. I worked in a highly technical filed and I loved solving problems and learning new technologies that involved involved my industry. There just aren't those kinds of challenges and opportunities around the house.

Maybe there is a project that you could work on in your field that you are naturally interested in. For example I know a retired engineer who builds custom utralight planes and custom motorbikes. He just does it because he likes the problem solving and the process. It is pretty cool. I have helped him out a few times. But maybe there is something in your field that you would enjoy working on?
