I Think the Ignorance About Mental Health Issues Must End

Hoarding is a mental health issue. And I live with a hoarder. Hoarding is when a person attributes an object to a memory; they are afraid to let go of the item because to them it's like letting go of a memory.

Hoarders don't always collect garbage. Some collect animals, some stuffed animals, some sports memorabilia, some newspapers. My hoarder collects DVDs and paper. Any and all sorts of paper.

I'd wave my white flag but I don't think you'd see it in this see of white paper. :D Seriously, I'm about to tackle the hoarding and rid the house of the paper so all he has is the DVD insanity. It is beyond overwhelming but one step at a time, I will get it done. I will. I will get my house back and I will enjoy it once again :D

If you have a hoarder in your life or neighborhood, please don't make fun of them. It really is a mental health issue - likened unto depression or bipolar. Please just make them aware of it, even if they deny it at first. The more awareness the person has, the better they can combat it.
