I Think the Ignorance About Mental Health Issues Must End

Mental illness is a flaw in chemistry, not character. The only flaw in character I see related to mental illness is the way society treats those who are suffering from it.

I struggle with depression, if anyone ever needs someone to talk to who understands what they are going through, I'm here. I been through it, and know all about it. Please message me if you need something or someone❤️

@Brookie101 Doing okay, but looking for a new job. Hard to find a good fit
That is very true, but sometimes it is more than chemistry, trauma can do it especially at a young age, it can make permanent alterations in connections in your brain.

@Subsumedpat absolutely. Thank you for pointing that out, that's so true and so many people do not realize that small things in childhood can have extreme impacts on a child's mental development.

I suffer from depression so I understand this, but there are still degrees. I have a family member who neglects to take her meds, cannot hold down a job, has stolen from us and is occasionally verbally abusive. She blames all of it on mental illness and problems with impulse control but doesn’t understand why we’re wary around her. For whatever the reason, we never know what she’s going to do next, so it makes trust difficult.😞

@bijouxbroussard I'm so sorry to hear that. Its difficult when it's a loved one too. I understand what your saying, my husband has it too and my sister, its hard.

@Brookie101 I too have depression but I understand what BB is saying ...if the person is not doing their part to try and function to a point that it doesn't hurt anyone else ,it is hard to trust them * sorry for butting in *🙊

@SW-User no no, I'm glad you responded, I absolutely agree, I just meant society still looks down on people, even when they are trying to function. Plus I feel like a lot of people are patronizing towards those who suffer from it, they try to act sympathetic and caring when really they manage to make you feel like you're not even two inches tall. Does that make any sense, sorry I took so long to reply. I hope you're doing well.
