Where you live, is there something tourists like but locals don't?

I live in Northern Norway, and we have tourists coming to experience polar nights or the midnight sun. While it might be cool for tourists, the locals themselves tend to dislike these times of year, as it's difficult to sleep with the midnight sun and depressing af during polar nights.

Is there anything like that where you're from? Something tourists like but locals dislike.

I live in the Arabian Gulf region where temp during summer goes up to 55 degrees, sometimes more..
Tourists from Europe, mainly your side of Europe, usually come to enjoy the heat and sunbathing during summer, while locals really hate that weather and that time of the year..

@crossproduct: yep. I know the drill.
Trust me, you won't enjoy the 55 degrees.. you may like it at the beginning, but after few days or weeks, you'd hate it.. specially when it comes along with 80% humidity!!

@meemo70: Oh yeah, I wouldn't want to live in it for sure

I live in Scotland, the tourists come for whiskey, tartan and bagpipes. I think most of the locals like them too.

I live in a very multicultural country, the tourists like seeing the outback and Ayers Rock, but a lot of indigenous locals are not fans of having their sacred lands tampered with by tourists especially when some areas or landmarks hold many generations of sentimental values, even centuries before British convict settlement.

Lobster ain't all that, locals eat donairs.
A lot of tourists come up from the US in the summer to get out of the heat but it's cold at night all year here.
It's relatively cheap for tourists as far as Western countries go but that means everything else is relatively expensive for the locals.

I've just looked up donair and my mouth is watering! Lobster is pretty great though!! 🙂

Fall colors. Don't get me wrong - I like the colors too. But enjoying them while driving 40 MPH on a 4-lane US highway is not healthy. Try a hike. Or pulling off the road.

Many tourist come for nature visits, an we don't have much trouble with that actually. There was also a famous crime committed nearby, and the folks who come to see that place tend to be pretty annoying. Sometimes they say things like, "You must think the criminal was so cool!" but then we just have to shake our heads, no...not really.

@Xuan12: When I lived in Hollywood, the apartment next to mine was known as "the murder apartment" (thanks to the National Enquirer) because an infamous crime occurred there. Having tourists there photographing this otherwise boring apartment and asking questions was really annoying. None of us residents had lived there during the murder.
Well I was once a tourist and now I'm a local in this this town. Coming from the Midlands in England I didn't live anywhere near the beach now the beach is half a mile away. I'm still as interested about living here now in my seaside town as I was the day I moved and seeing new things everyday and tourists, families, new restaurants and finding new walks.
My hometown of Pensacola Fla. is a tourist town as is Charleston SC, near where I live now. The only I dislike is how some of them drive in towns they aren't familiar with. I have to avoid many on the road

I'm in Norfolk,England.
They used to call it 'The land of the Turkey farms' when Bernard Mathews was a big company here.
But many who work in the rearing environment say it's hot; hard; smelly and unpleasant.

As far as I know, tourists like fountains so much. And that's like wherever you go. I wonder what the hell is so magical about fountains..
NorthernRoses · 22-25, F
They're like living water statues!! 💕
Mahjack · 31-35, M
Ah..lol!

No wonder why there are some dancing fountains l😜

There you go ⛲️

Movie shoots. Locals in LA find them annoying because of what they do to traffic.
iMystery · M
I have always wondered about that...🤔
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@iSensual: They usually film the car chases at night.
Sepia · 36-40, F

People come here to ride the cable cars. I think I've ridden them maybe 3 or 4 times in my life. I take the Muni or BART to get where I need to go.
