Yes. My company used to have a deal with American Airlines where we'd get a 1st class upgrade in one direction on a transatlantic flight. If on an over night coming back I always took that option. But I was such a frequent flyer on the LHR BOS route I'd normally get upgraded on both directions. Often just me and the air Marshall in there lol

Yes, although it happened because the airline messed up. More room. Better snacks. Glass instead of paper and plastic. Faster service.
