Do you remember your first solo trip?

Where was it?
How was it?
MikeSp · 56-60, M
My first solo trip was in pilot training when I was 16. Aside from the initial solo of 3 circuits around the field, my first was a flight from Tampa to Key West, also at 16. Spent the day there and enjoyed a gorgeous sunset on the way back. All in a Cessna 150. Airlines are like a bus that hops. 😎

@MikeSp nice, you fly personal or have you been a airline pilot? I've never even been on a plane.
MikeSp · 56-60, M
@iamnikki Never flew for hire. Always for personal and my business. I encourage you and others to get a free small airplane ride to understand flight better, and to see the airport from a different angle. Go to eaa.org and check their Young Eagles flights for kids aged 8-17, and their Eagles flights for those over 18. Only 1-3 passengers per plane. Pilot lets you take the controls of you want.

@MikeSp I'm really just wanting to travel, not be the pilot. Checked out the website though. It does say there that it is for those who are actually interested, and not for those just wanting a free plane ride.
Not gonna go there and act all interested just for a free ride. Thanks though

Yep,

From San Francisco to Columbus, Ohio to look at grad school.
How was it? Well? I’ve been in Columbus since 2004.😁
MrsKatherineArch · 41-45, F
@iamnikki Yes I did! And built a life here that I could never have imagined being able to afford in the Bay Area.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@MrsKatherineArch thats lovely. no sarcasm..I think I'm gonna head out now, maybe to the flower garden but it's father than I want to drive,,,like 20 mins lol
MrsKatherineArch · 41-45, F
I didn’t take it as sarcasm. @iamnikki Sometimes, you find that the “temporary” move is the blessing that you pray for.
I was 39 and went to be with my mother when my father died. Not sure how I made it to that age without going on a trip alone

@ProdigalSummer Thanks for sharing

To Parris Island
Nerve wracking
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@MarineBob why was it nerve wracking?
There are things I'd like to see here in Texas. It's so damn big, it's hard to get anywhere...especially when you are scared. But, I now have a reliable car, so that's no longer an issue.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@iamnikki that is where I went to boot camp
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@MarineBob what part
Tracos · 51-55, M
Weird, exciting, uncomfortable, but awesome
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Tracos Care to give details? Whats weird and uncomfortably about it?
Tracos · 51-55, M
I went on a solo roadtrip for about a week... going to a restaurant alone is weird an uncomfortable... finding a place to sleep felt equally ... it took a couple of days to get the hang of it

I was 18 and I went to Indianapolis by myself to see the Indy 500
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Not yet. Even the thought gives me anxiety.
