Have you ever visited Wichita, Kansas?

Because they are advertising it several times a day as a tourist destination on our local TV stations....

Yes, I had to train there.
The space museum at Hutchinson’s pretty good, but apart from that it’s a fairly ordinary place as far as I could tell.
I’m British, so any trip to the US is fun, especially as it’s quite easy to strike up a conversation with people.

@Oneofthestormboys You get a lot of different accents and subcultures in different states when you come here. Yeah I’ve passed through Wichita but they are making it look way funner than I imagine it to be in real life...seemed ordinary 45 years ago when passing through. They want the tourist money though, all cities do.

@cherokeepatti it's really a clean, nice town. They have an excellent zoo, they have Cowtown. World Treasure Museum, Kansas Aviation Museum, Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, and the Mid America Indian Center. It's really not that bad.

@Greybare Is that where the well is located? There is a place in Texas I’d like to visit in Mineral Wells...it is Crazy Woman Springs....has a high lithium content in the mineral waters and they say that back in the 1800’s a man brought his wife there and she bathed in the waters and drank the water and it cured her.

Been through it many times. Not a tourist destination.

@Shade70 They are advertising it as one though.

@cherokeepatti as PT Barnum said, there's a sucker born every minute...

@Shade70 They got a rock-climbing wall now...

Never been to Kansas, never connected the state as a tourist destination😳
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Tminus6453 I used to live in Topeka and agree. There’s a good little zoo, rose garden, and swim complex all together in one area in Topeka if you ever go there.

There was an old song called “Witchita Lineman.” Other than that, I know nothing about Witchita, KS.

I drove through Kansas and stayed there overnight back in the '70s.
