Is it helpful to be fluent in Spanish?

In the United States, speaking fluent Spanish and English is essential in some customer service jobs.

@4meAndyou when my mom has question in customer service she’s wants to talk to someone who speaks Spanish

@Mariocrespo8546 Exactly. If you are fluent in Spanish companies can use you on the Spanish speaking line. I can speak pidgin Spanish, and when I worked customer service the poor people waiting for someone who could speak Spanish would get so tired of waiting they would call back and try the English speaking line.

Sometimes, between my small amount of Spanish and their small amount of English, we could get their problem fixed. BUT all US companies need to hire more English/Spanish bilingual employees in customer service.

And there are SO many areas where Spanish is needed. Police departments 911 lines...everywhere!!!

I'm sure it would be impressive but not very useful where I live, unless I'm doing international business
wakanda4eva · 26-30, F
@Mariocrespo8546 in the slight chance I do, yeah haha
But then again I can be like the exotic traveller that tries to use body signals to go places (or look like an Idiot doing it, whichever one)

@wakanda4eva why do Americans hate Hispanics speak Spanish around them
wakanda4eva · 26-30, F
@Mariocrespo8546

Not sure how that's related to our convo lel but I'm not American haha, which of course I'm sure of course it's not all Americans that think that, but I reckon cos they probably think their talking trash about em, it's like when chinese people talking in chinese around me clearly about me, it's quite funny lol

In some places, yes. San Jose, San Diego, L.A. all have areas where the only signs in English are the road signs.
