Why does this music sound dated? As if there were a layer of dust on it? A thing of a long gone past? No longer relevant?
It just about 25 or 30 years older than Paul McCartney's "Fool on the Hill", which (to me) stills sounds fresh.

@Pfuzylogic I was only 14 then and I still hadn't heard them although I knew they existed and I imagined I'd like them from what other lads in school told me about them. I had just discovered Thin Lizzy that year and I would get heavily into Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple within the next year, so I was well on my way towards Classic Rockland. Lol :)

I spent my teen years on weed, concerts and chess. I am still amazed on the number I went to.

@Pfuzylogic I used to play chess in those days as well. I haven't had a game for quite some time so I might be a bit out of the loop. Lol :)

The visuals on the RCA dog looks quite a bit dated from the current logo!

@Pfuzylogic I didn't know the American RCA company used a dog like that. The UK label HMV used that logo as well, and it used a sequence of release numbers beginning with B (like B 10276 for example). I didn't know the HMV label was a copy of an old RCA label design.

@seeandhear Oh yes, but it's not only technology. Something fundamental must have changed in the 1950, which made all older popular music sound dated.

H, in a promotion in 1954 my dad won a RCA 45 RPM record player. With it came a box set of 10 Glenn Miller records. I still have the record player and the records.

@jackson55 I feel some envy...
Here's another nice one: "Let's have another cup of coffee"
