@Echoing Well that would explain their curiosity - lots of food & poop and smells that intrigue bears. We hear once or twice each year about this time of a young bear trying to feed himself from some community's trash cans. The best of those outcomes result in the bear getting 'relocated.' Too often they just get exterminated 😞

I hope you didn't have them there all year looking for food. They can be distinctive at times. @Echoing

@rjc36 Nope.. normally the bears hang out till the wild berries start bearing. About two weeks they come around..most days. But we take all birdfeeders up at night.
