I Am In Support of Transgender and Genderqueer People

I love this community and what it stands for. I myself am not transgender, but I support anyone who is. With the photo of Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner out today it is definitely one for the books. Many are so supportive while others are outraged. I think it's not only sad but surprising considering way back when years and years ago men were the ones wearing makeup, heels, wigs and dress like attire. I don't believe in colors or certain outfits being acceptable for just one gender. I think you should wear whatever the hell you want to wear and live your life the way YOU want. You do what makes you happy. I've had my share of knowing transgender people ever since I was in middle school. A friend of mines father is now a woman and has been ever since I can remember, and a wonderful woman at that. Their church was so outraged when he came to pray one day and banished their family from the church. It hurts my heart for these people who just want to be people. It's just so sad that some not only call Bruce delusional, but would rather he'd have said nothing about being transgender and he'd be miserable for the rest of his days. Can you say selfish? Hopeful for change.

I was unable to see the original interview when it was aired but after reading this post I spent the last few hours watching all 10 parts online.
I must admit there were more than a few times I was moved to tears. Having experienced a number of the same circumstances that Caitlyn has endured I can empathize.
She did make one comment a number of times that very much resonated with me regarding sexuality and gender. She said "You're going back to the sex thing, and it's apples and oranges," he told Sawyer. "There's two different things here. Sexuality is who you personally are attracted to — who turns you on. But gender identity has to do with who you are as a person and your soul and who you identify with inside." I don't know that anyone has said it better and with more clarity.
For someone with such a public personality to take this step, particularly at her age speaks to her courageousness and character. All of us who are transgendered should be proud of her.

Absolutely. I couldn't agree more. Beautifully said. <3

If you're so supportive, why do you keep saying "he" and using the name Bruce?
cosmicuniverse · 26-30, F
Yeah, I hear you. But it is a new thing. I'm getting used to it and I phrased it that way so people would know what I was talking about.

If you're supportive, you should respect people by using their preferred pronouns.

Will do sir.

I completely agree. Why should it matter to anyone other than him and his family.

Agreed!
