I Am In Support of Transgender and Genderqueer People

My youngest son who is 19, is a F2M transgender. He recently started therapy and T therapy. He has his entire family’s love and support. The biggest problem I’m having is using the correct pronouns and not using his female birth name. I’m really trying!

It's tricky when you have known him for so long by a different name and gender but I am really glad you are so accepting and supportive of him embracing his true self.. Very few people are genuinely able to do that.. I could never be my true self..

@TheresaA yeah its not easy, but that's life

@AlphaPuppy best of luck to you.

@TheresaA thank you

Best of luck to him! Great that you're a supportive parent. Many kids out there can only wish to have such a great parent in such a important time in their life.

@cereal thank you! He’s my a baby and deserves my love and support. Sexual orientation or gender dysphoria doesn’t change that. 😀

It will get better with time. The most important thing is that your son knows you love him unconditionally. Many people are not so fortunate. Bless you.

Why can't he change his name now? Or does she have to wait till the Therapy is complete? Whew!...difficult for you *I can well imagine. Here I am realizing my errors attempting to be correct.
My first thought here is you need to DROP the word 'QUEER'
Pack this word in a Box and drop in into the rubbish. Webster's dictionary may well have something new. However it is not appropriate. It's a new AGE of learning,for us all. Thank-you for sharing.

@Carla1951 I wasn’t familiar with the name but when I found this group figured it was the best one to post in. We are going to look into a name change soon. That still won’t solve his mom’s almost 20 year habit of calling him by the female name. I’ll get it someday.

My 18 year old son is also ftm. If you ever want to talk, please feel free to message me. Oh, and I still screw up name/pronouns half of the time.

That would be great to chat sometime. Thank you! @SW-User

I think its the thought that counts. Keep on trying. He's going to remember that, I'll wager, more than when you made a mistake. He's your baby and always.
