Why are the Premiership teams not doing better in Europe?

thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
I admit that the BPL can be entertaining. Although usually it's pretty boring compared to the hype sky sports give it. I think a lot of your clubs are just going for quick fixes and not cultivating a style like teams on the continent do (especially Barca who pick managers who they've been training for it for ages). Rather like your national team a lot of the clubs lack an identity. The only one that sticks with a style is Arsenal but they need to change. Now it's just get whatever big name manager there is and throw money at big name players. The people running your league don't care though because it's purely commercial now.

Between 2004 - 2012 there were 8 BPL teams in the 8 Champions League finals played. 🤔 🤔 But maybe after that the Premier League has evened out more. Teams like Leicester and the Spurs have played better, while in the La Liga and Italy etc. the power is more focused into only a couple of teams. I used to follow more football before though so maybe I'm wrong.

@Mordimoux: No that is a good point. The prem is a tough competition and money is spread out. I still think the top teams have had mediocre management since 2012 though.

It makes BPL matches interesting to watch. On the other hand, Juventus just earned a sixth consecutive Serie A title.

Wegner is luckiest manager going to not have been sacked, guardiola walked in to 2 great sides Barcelona, Bayern Munich , struggled in premiership is he that good a manager. In premiership not just about 3 teams in league likes Germany and Spain where he managed, been impressed with conte

Manchester United is in Europa League final game.

@Burnley123: Most of the players they signed have failed. And no players have made it from the youth team. It looks like the club identity is somehow lost.
Besides, the club is too much involved in political affairs regarding Catalonian independence now

@Cierzo: I think you are transitioning away from a golden generation. Others catch up and complacency sets it. Barca is also a difficult club to manage.

@Burnley123: True. Not sure if either Messi or Neymar should leave the team

The number one priority is the Premier League mega money.

@beaker95: that's the crux of the matter.

Guardiola would have been sacked if he was in Germany or Spain after this season hes had and money spent , best side and manager won premiership, klopp should be sacked
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Nyloncapes: I disagree with Klopp. His team have the fifth biggest budget and finished fourth. Also a big improvement on last time.

I kind of agree with Guardiola. He has not shown pragmatism.

Liverpool and klopp look no where near challenging for the premiership, they make excuse for guardiola, saying its his first season in premiership, I say what about conte then first season
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
Not good enough simple over rated players
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Nyloncapes: I think they do underachieve for the quality of players. There should be a least one in the semi and two in the quarters as a minimum.

Must be the managers then and there tactics,
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Nyloncapes: I think there is some truth in that. Wenger never learns, Guardiola rotates too much and Pochettino was experimenting early on. I think next season it will be better. Its about time we had a semi finalist and I think we will.
