What's the best cheat-camper if you wanna stay in a campground

and all the other campers are hard sided, white and expensive?
Zoranna · F
I'd rather not go camping but I would suggest close to the amenities block, and get there early. I've had some really good times camping but it wasn't really my scene, I went to please the family.

I don’t know what you mean by cheat camper but a few campgrounds have restrictions as to size, year and condition. Some fiberglass hard siders are cheaper but have short falls if you travel a lot. If it’s a permanent site many times a RV dealer will tow and set it up for you.

@Whiterosesociety Actually I do know someone who did but he was a carpenter and I don’t have that kind of skill. But I bet there’s plans online somewhere.
@SageWanderer I know, still trying to decide what to do...

@Whiterosesociety Also try to find a JC Whitney catalog. They may have an in bed tent set up.

Have you thought about a trailer tent .I had one for many years and a second hand one can be cheap .The only downfall I found ,was if it rains hard at night it can be very noisy but great cheap ways to have a camping holiday .
@Rhodesianman well its not free and the drive back would cost me too much
Rhodesianman · 56-60, M
@Whiterosesociety so its not a bargain and not worth bothering with .
@Rhodesianman no its not and I don't like pop ups anyway

I could try to make one by myself or get some kind of arrangement going for what I can do, like get another cap and get a tent-extension thingy, also not cheap but cheaper than a hardside anything

we rv....for work...live in the motor home..car tows with us...

it's huge..and we have small dogs.
@maxeen I would appreciate some help with my question. All I have is a mini pickup with no cap or camper on it and without something like a camper I will not get in but I cant afford a real camper
maxeen · 61-69, F
@Whiterosesociety

if you can't afford a camper...that's your answer

you can rent them at some campgrounds..this place rents them for $400/month ..
plus electricity...

you can also work for the campground...covers cost..

retirees volunteer at state parks...live free

good luck

@SW-User I don't know if there is a tent area or tent policy, yes I can ask...but I was just hoping to get suggestions for skirting the ambiguity
SW-User
@Whiterosesociety :-) I was just being silly.

I think teardrop campers are cool but I don’t know how practical they are.
@SW-User overpriced therefore unavailable..but I have a small wrought iron trailer on wheels and can build something homemade..if I knew what I was doing
