Man City get a two year Champions League ban.

Your thoughts?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
They'll appeal. It'll take half a season to sort. They'll go on to make money from the competition even if unsuccessful. And if they cost any legally abiding team a place in the latter stages, we and they will say the system favours the bigger clubs no matter how many rules they break !
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Burnley123 Can't see it happening. I mean it SHOULD ! And Man.City, of ALL clubs MUST know the rules and the possible consequences.....but that'll be a large slice of cash missing from the competition if they go.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Nyloncapes Man United are also kind of going in the right direction with a better transfer policy. They need a better coach. I agree that Chelsea look best placed to improve in the next two years.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Picklebobble2 This is good stuff from David Conn. It looks like City showed arrogant contempt for the rules and their emails were probably hacked by an ex employee.

Kwek00 · 41-45, M
If they are consistent enforcing the rules, then who can be against it? 🤷‍♂️
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Burnley123 The scandal you are probably talking about had more to do with player brokers and a lot of shady deals. And 2 referees that started wearing fancy watches over night 😅 It wasn't just Anderlecht, a number of clubs that these brokers work with. And after a year of research, things are slowly moving to a cover up I guess. Because I don't see anny big trials comming up. But I hope they do clean house if they enough evidence.

A few years back, we had a Chinese guy who fixed some matches.

And there is always shady stuff with non paying there taxes or having weird financial constructions.

I'm amazed that in a big competition like the English one there haven't been more things comming to light. Because the pressure is really big, there is loads of money involved, ... and frankly, you guys have a lot of matches that your top teams play each year.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Kwek00 Yes all of that. Basically we are the most free market country and have the most lax financial rules. Its not like the fan ownership and strict spending regulations that german clubs get. Its allowed the league to get huge but so many teams are in massive debt or depend on benefactors.

If uefa hadn't done this, nobody in England would.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Burnley123 Too much money, after a while it sours the milk 😅
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
😁😀😄

And I hope the ban is increased when they lose their appeal as payback for the utter disdain they have shown UEFA ..... and for their overbearing sense of entitlement and self-importance.

PSG should be next.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@RodionRomanovitch lol. Well you've had to wait long enough. I don't even remember watching the last Liverpool title winning side.

City have one hope of retaining superclub status and that is to get the ban overturned. If not, they will lose pep and star players to emerge from the tunnel at Tottenham or arsenal level.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@Burnley123 They were never a superclub mate. You need a decent fanbase for that and they can't even sell out the Etihad a lot of the time.

Since 2008 their net spend is £1.2 billion. That's double the next nearest (Real Madrid) and four times what we spent.

Their success was bought , plain and simple.

(Incredibly Everton even make it into that list ! )
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@RodionRomanovitch I think Real Madrid have a higher wage bill but yeah. Everyone knows where the money came from. If thr owners can no longer break the rules and they have no champions league revenue then there is no way they retain this level of team.
Midnightoker1 · 61-69, M
Roses are red
Man City are blue
No champions league
Until 2022.
monte3 · 70-79, M
I wonder how many other teams are flirting with the limits. And what signing put them over the top.

@Burnley123 I am sure you are aware of this but Burnley was listed as 18th! Your performance is Between impressive and amazing. The power of organization?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@monte3 Yes absolury. Sean Dyche is a good coach. We don't entertain much but hard to play against.
Platinum · M
Pep was only saying yesterday he thought he might be sacked if he don't win the champions league , now he won't and I can't see him staying...
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Platinum It's a tough life being Pep
Platinum · M
Now they are saying man city might get points deducted from the premier ....@Burnley123
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Platinum Wow. House of cards comes tumbling down. This reminds me of what happened to Marseille in the Bernard Tapie era or Juventus after the bribery scandal. One minute on top of the world, then a ruling means everything collapses.

I guess if you have nowhere else to go, sheer arrogance is your last resort.

"There is no liklihood of accepting a partial punishment...
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
If this stands does it mean the fifth placed PL team will get into the CL, or that the PL will only get 3 spots instead of 4? Asking on behalf of Spurs.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Harmonium1923 It's not clear yet but the short answer is probably yes. As a Burnley fan, we now have an outside chance of Europa league football which is ridiculous. Sheffield United are champions league contenders.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
Relegate them to championship
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Nyloncapes You never know, that could happen. If the ruling is upheld they probably will get a points penalty from the league, but that means nothing cos they can't catch Liverpool or get relegated.

Should they be asked to rescind their league titles, if they won them breaking the rules? I think they should.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Nyloncapes In a fair world that should be the ultimate punishment. But then. If you knew what you were doing, why stop at one league ?
Serious offenders need serious punishments t discourage others from doing the same.
smiler2012 · 56-60
burnley123 why have they been banned does it start season 2020 / 21 so them winning the premier league or getting a top four spot would be futile for any european glory ambitions in this period they are suspended from it could they still qualify for the europa league still
Abbyrose · 22-25, F
My only thoughts are hahahahaha
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
That will get overturned by some reason , it is about time teams were punished for breaking rules, and banned,
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
Overturned on appeal, bet ya!! 🤷‍♀️
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Harriet03 OK. Let's see
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@Burnley123 I'll bet you a SW gift of your choice!!
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Harriet03 It's worth less than a betting coupon for David Moyes winning the Champions League.
Abbyrose · 22-25, F
Pep to Juventus? 🤞
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Abbyrose How is Sarri doing?
Abbyrose · 22-25, F
We’ve had a few good games this season but the last few, everybody except Ronaldo and Dybala have looked like traffic cones out there. No tactics, no organization @Burnley123
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Abbyrose Sarri was never popular at Chelsea though their fans are notoriously hard to please and the results weren't terrible. Over here, betting odds say Guardiola is odds on to leave at the end of the season and he's been everywhere else to Juve and PSG look like the two options.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Fuck them and hope the rest of the bastards get done
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@thatscottishguy FUCK ✊
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@thatscottishguy Breaking news is Guardiola and half the team have just signed for Rangers.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@Burnley123 So the new Rangers overspend and die just like the old club.
luctoretemergo · 61-69, M
What did they do?....
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@luctoretemergo Broke ffp rules and spent vastly in excess of earnings. Its footballs rule against oligarch owners. Surprised to see it enforced.
luctoretemergo · 61-69, M
Sorry man...(if your a fan)….I don't know much about UK Football but I know the Gallagher brothers love Man City...love to hear what they have to say! :) @Burnley123
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@luctoretemergo I'm not a city fan and I think they deserve it.
