What's it like to enjoy sports?

Can't say I've ever been a fan. My favorite radio station (BBC World Service) always covers football on the weekend. I personally find that a bit annoying, as I hold no interest in it. I mean, I get it.. I get that it's important to people.. but I doubt I could ever be into that, even if I tried.

Everyone doesn't have to be into sports, nor would it be healthy if everyone liked the same things. Unfortunately, the BBC and other networks tend to cover the things that many people like to see and/or listen to, and not equally important areas like the arts or nature. We're better off today though with lots of channels to watch or listen to than 50 years ago, where there were more limited options. I can recall listening to football on the BBC on shortwave 50 years ago on the weekends.

@MougyWolf I'm sure it does, though I very much miss hearing Alistair Cooke's weekly Letter From America. He had a way of cutting through the BS and painting vivid pictures solely with his words.

@windinhishair I have a lot of appreciation for radio, (and for the folks at the BBC for being the best at it)

While I do have some fav tv shows, and films.. I find radio to be a much more pleasing medium, and is my go-to for media consumption.

I follow the world news very closely, and am into all the science and nature stuff. It's the perfect mental stimulation without the need to look at screens.

@MougyWolf Radio is a great medium for following the news. The BBC and others put a lot of effort into capturing the important news and actually going into detail at a level that rarely gets presented on TV.

If you haven't done so, you should listen to the news on D-Day in 1944, as it was released on radio. You should do it in real time (four or five hours) to understand how important it was at the time and how much was riding on its success. You will hear some real journalism that has disappeared in the present time.
