Why are English teams suddenly dominating Europe?

Its been the richest league in the world for at least twenty years but the last decade has been pretty crap. Yes, United won the Europa League two seasons ago and Liverpool was in the Champions League final last season but these are exceptions. Now we have an all English final, perhaps two, if Chelsea and Arsenal do as expected tomorrow night.

It's Spain which has had the most success in recent years. You can understand Real Madrid and Barca doing well because they are huge clubs but nobody else in Spain has any money. Even Athletico, the third richest club, have less money than any of the English top six. Spain are still top of the Uefa coefficient rankings (which rate the strength of all competing clubs European performances) but these are based on a five year period. Germany was second until recently but that was dependent on Bayern Munich who are now not quite as strong as they were. So yeah, there is a good chance that England can top this in a year or two.

On that note, it could be down to weaknesses elsewhere. Real Madrid has fallen apart without Ronaldo and though Barca won La Liga, they are nowhere near as good as they were five or ten years ago. Its the same with Bayern in Germany. Juve has a really strong side but they blew it against Ajax.

The Premiership looks strong though and why is that? What has changed in the last few seasons.

Most of the top player's in those teams are hacked now.
There arnt any quality replacements for them.
So those top teams have started to struggle now.
English Premiereship does not look strong.
Since the top teams are weaker the weaker teams have started dominating.
When the overseas players leave it will be a very average tournament
