Weight Training Q

After years of lifting weights, doing dumbbell chest presses and pushups, I still feel it more in my biceps than chest area, unless I pulse the exercises and go for endurance rather than strength.
Anyone else experienced this or know why?

Don't do any arm exercises go for all chest, do incline flies for best effect, don't go to hard first time out, work into it over time.

The chest exercises will sort out your arms at the same time as they are all composite,* (using multiple muscle groups (bi, tri, pec etc). Doing incline builds up the upper chest which include the muscles that pull everything upwards :) using dumbells makes sure each side works equally (you don't want an over developed side) and make sure you take the weights up to meet which will give you a better cleavage (yep guys want to have one too!) Not so important on the down ward stroke ie don't need to quite go to the horizontal as this spreads the muscles rather than keep them together.

* sorry if I'm telling you what you already know.

Wishes I'd been a personal trainer.

Bench/chest press; reduce the weight take it down slowly to touch and back again. I see many good, heavy lifters dumping (and bouncing :O )the barbell off there chest for speed or extra weight etc

Yes, I’ve just started something like this. My biceps really get pumped though. Maybe I’m using the strength of my arms more than pushing from the chest. I’ll put my focus on this, and see what happens. @GeniUs
I don't life weights. It is nice to see you here, Carissimi.

@laurenfreese Not sure about this but wouldn't discount it, I'd been lifting for years when somebody told me squats were good for abs especially if you held the weight on the front. There was only one way to find out, do it topless to see - it does and very satisfying to see!

No, it’s terrible for the low back. Ask any physical therapist. @GeniUs

@GeniUs Squats worked great for my abs.

Do butterflies with heavier weight

You mean chest flys? Yes, I’m doing those, and have changed the way I hold the dumbells, but wonder if I’m wasting my time doing chest press. @TexChik
